Toyota has introduced the Innova MPV, a spacious, yet affordable people-carrier, to its local product range.
Measuring 4,58 metres in length and 1,75 metres high, the Innova is offered in two variants; a more workmanlike 8-seater and a 7-seater with a greater emphasis on luxury features and fittings. The Innova can be ordered in a choice of 7 exterior colours with the 8-seater rolling on 15-inch steel rims and the 7-seater on alloys of the same size.
Both models feature a two-tone facia with silver-effect trim detailing and wood grain inserts on the door and lower facia panels, with the wood detailing extending to the steering wheel rim in the 7-seater model. The two-tone treatment is also echoed on the 8-seater’s cloth upholstery, while the 7-seater is offered with leather on both the seats and gearknob.
In terms of seating arrangement, the 7-seater model features a 2-2-3 layout comprising individual captain seats in the front and second rows, and a 3-seater bench at the rear. In this configuration, the second row seats feature slide and recline adjustments. The 8-seater features a 2-3-3 arrangement with a fold-flat/tumbling second row and a third row bench capable of being folded to the sides of the cabin.
Both Innova models are powered by a 2,7-litre petrol engine with intelligent variable-valve timing that develops 118 kW at 5 200 r/min and 241 N.m of torque at 3 800 r/min. Mated with a 5-speed manual gearbox, this unit returns a claimed 11,2 litres/100 km in a combined cycle and emits 265g of CO2 per kilometre. The Innova’s suspension comprises a double-wishbone independent set-up with stabiliser bars at the front and a four-link rear suspension. The ride height is 168 mm.
Standard features on both Innova models include electric windows, remote central locking with alarm and immobiliser, steering wheel-mounted audio controls, Sound system with touch-screen interface, USB and Bluetooth connectivity (this unit also features a reverse parking camera in the 7-seater model) and a dual-zone automatic air conditioning system with vents for all three rows of occupants. The safety features include driver and passenger airbags, ABS brake and seatbelts for all occupants

Both models come with a 5 year / 90 000 km service plan and a 3 year / 100 000 km warranty as standard. Service intervals are every 15 000 km.
