Images of what is purported to be a concept showcasing the successor to the iconic Subaru WRX have found their way onto the ‘web.
Subaru is widely expected to reveal this concept, or something similar, at the New York Motor Show this week. But an enterprising French blog has come forth with what looks like legitimate pictures of the upcoming concept.
The concept appears to have retained a number of the key visual features from both WRX and WRX STI models, namely the signature bonnet scoop and deep front air dam. The blue paint scheme and brake callipers and WRX logo in matching yellow finish are also WRX staples.
The concept also features a rear diffuser and a formidable-looking quartet of exhaust pipes.
Its low-slung stance also gives the impression that the designers had one eye on the BR-Z when penning this concept.
As can be expected, Subaru has not yet divulged any technical details, but there are suggestions that a 2,0-litre boxer engine derived from that currently powering the WRX STI (221kW/407 N.m) is on the cards.
