Alfa Romeo’s star at this year’s Frankfurt motor show will be the Mito Quadrifoglio Verde (four-leaf clover), which will hit international showrooms soon after the Italian company launches its new MultiAir engines.By Kelly Lodewyks
With a new 1,4-litre engine delivering 127 kW, this model will now be the halo model in the Mito line-up since the 179 kW 1,8-litre-powered Mito GTA has been put on hold.
With claimed emission figures of 139 g/km of CO2 and fuel consumption of 4,8-litres/100 km, Alfa says that the Quadrifoglio Verde “…represents a new kind of sportiness that combines maximum driving pleasure with improved environmental qualities”. Mated with a new six-speed C635 gearbox, Alfa claims a zero to 100 km/h time of just over seven seconds.
For added ride comfort, the Quadrifoglio Verde comes fitted with a Dynamic Suspension system that has continuous variable shock absorbers. Three driver-selectable settings are offered: normal, all-weather and dynamic. The historic four-leaf-clover decal sits on the fender of the Quadrifoglio Verde, while a titanium finish on the headlamps, wing mirrors and 17-inch alloys round off the look.
Other vehicles on show at the Alfa stand in Frankfurt will include all other vehicles in their stable featuring the new MultiAir engines that features a new electro-hydraulic valve control system which, according to Alfa, makes it possible to reduce consumption levels and emissions. Alfa Romeo explains that “…MultiAir is a versatile technology, easily applied to all petrol engines, with a future potential development on diesel engines, too”.
