Jaguar is introducing an estate version of the X-Type saloon at the Frankfurt Show in September, the first production estate car from the manufacturer.
The Estate has permanent all-wheel drive allied to a choice of V6 petrol engines and a new 2,0-litre diesel engine. It has exclusive detailing including integral roof rails and a rear screen that opens independently of the tailgate.
According to Jaguar, the new X-Type Estate is perfectly positioned to capture sales from customers who have not previously enjoyed the option of a Jaguar estate.
Jaguar expects it to sell well, especially in Europe where estates currently account for more than a quarter of sales in the X-Type market segment across Europe.
“This new addition to the Jaguar range is as rewarding to drive as it is versatile,” says the company.
Further details will be given at Frankfurt. The Estate is earmarked to go on sale overseas early in 2004.
