Jaguar has unleashed info, pics and a video of its CX-16 two-seater concept model, a preview of its upcoming Porsche Cayman and 911 rival. The concept will make its debut at Frankfurt next week.
The CX-16 is powered by a supercharged 277 kW 3.0-litre V6 and a “Push to Pass” hybrid system consisting of an electric motor integrated into the eight-speed ZF autobox. The extra thrust delivered by the latter is controlled with a button placed on the steering wheel.
The claimed performance figures match that of the fire-breathing XKR-S – 96 km/h in reached from standstill in a blistering 4,3 seconds – but with an industry-leading emissions figure of 165 g CO2 a kilometre thanks to the CX-16’s ability to reach 80 km/h on electric power only.
The 1,6 kWh battery pack is located behind the seats and ensures a mass distribution of a perfect 50:50 front-to-rear.
