Jaguar has lifted the wraps off its insane XFR-S, which made its public debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show today. It is the most powerful saloon that Jaguar has ever built.
Like its XKR-S sibling it makes use of Jaguar’s 5,0-litre V8 supercharged engine that has outputs of 405 kW and 680 N.m of torque. This powerplant is mated with a ZF eight-speed transmission that helps propel the XFR-S from zero to 100 km/h in 4,6 seconds before it reaches a very high top speed of 300 km/h.
For better ride and enhanced handling characteristics Jaguar has equipped the XFR-S with a reworked version of Jaguar’s Electronic Active Differential and Dynamic Stability Control system and broader 20-inch wheels.
Aesthetically, the XFR-S differs from it’s XFR sibling thanks to a larger front bumper with aggressive air intakes, a carbon-fibre front splitter, a meatier rear bumper, a rear spoiler and quad pipes. Speaking of which, Jaguar states that it has replaced the central muffler with a cross piece and “near straight-through rear pipes”. The result, the company claims, is “an enhanced exhaust note that ‘crackles’ on deceleration”.
Jaguar South Africa has stated that there are currently no plans to bring this model to SA, but the local arm is investigating the possibility.
