With the unveiling of the Kia Cross GT Concept the Korean carmaker looks to the future and a possible successor to the Sorento.
While stateside media has the GT pegged as a preview to a potential Borrego large crossover successor, the Borrego no longer appears on Kia’s American website and it looks as though it’s given way to the Sorrento as the firm’s large SUV of choice.
The concept hints at a future premium SUV/crossover that will apparently eclipse the Sorento in terms of its size.
There are hints of Range Rover Evoque about the frontal styling, thanks to the narrow headlamps flanking what is perhaps the largest take on the firm’s tiger-nose grille, a shallow glazing due to a rising waitline and gills just aft of the front wheels.
Although it’s about as far-removed from production-specification as a concept can be (just look at that interior with its four individual seats and the multiple-glazed panoramic roof treatment) there is an indication that the Cross GT will provide a preview of where Kia’s future design language is headed.
