The official importer and distributor of Thule roof racks and accessories, DBS Distributing, recently opened its first showroom and fitment centre in South Africa.
In what has been claimed to be a first, the fitment centre provides both the vehicle dealers and the public with fitment services for a range of systems, including roof racks and luggage and bicycle carriers. The facility in Sandton, Gauteng, also serves as a distribution centre for the aerodynamic range of sealed and lockable roof luggage pods.
The showroom also provides a same-day and next-day service to the dealer network in Gauteng.
Chief executive of DBS Distributing Richard Downey said: “The phenomenal growth we have experienced nationally has necessitated a one-stop shop to provide the Gauteng after sales market with a fitment service and access to all of our products.
“With the Thule range of roof rack components we can provide a 100 per cent fit for 238 vehicle makes in South Africa.”
David Stener, director of business development for Thule, said, “This is the first Thule showroom store in the world to roll out the new corporate identity for 2005, and will be the flagship store for the South African and southern African market.”
“Thule’s range of products inspire people to seek out new routes and see unexplored parts of their country,” said Oscar Chaulpsky, Springbok Surf Ski Champion.
“These products have taken kayaks to places that are a mere speck on the map, carried bikes to road-less areas and unpacked tents in deserts. Whether the destination is round the corner or on the other side of the continent, these products know what active South Africans need to take them there.”
