On Sunday, racing fans will again hear the magnificent roar of F1 cars at Kyalami. Grand prix stars are jetting to South Africa for a test session ahead of the Altech F1 two-seater race in August.
F1 driver Zsolt Baumgartner, test driver Bas Leinders and British F3 champion and current F3000 driver Alan van der Merwe will be in action at the Midrand circuit. Ten thousand tickets have been made available for the exclusive 60-lap test session.
Test session and race co-ordinator Dave McGregor said: "The track is in great shape and the public can be a part of the thrill of seeing F1 two-seater cars reaching very close to F1 racing speeds. Our entire team will be on duty for the day, including track marshals, medical teams, and emergency crew.
"The session is aimed at dialling the cars in, getting the cars’ settings sorted out and giving the drivers the opportunity to get accustomed to the track," he added.
McGregor said the normal commercial amenities would be available to the spectators and that there would also be pit walk-throughs at specified times. Spectators with pit passes will be able to get a really close look at the cars and the support teams.
A day-pass costs R50, the pit walk-through pass R75 and tickets can be obtained at Computicket.
