According to autoblog.nl, Aston Martin CEO Ulrich Bez stated at a recent event in Amsterdam that the Lagonda Concept, which debuted at last year’s Paris Motor Show, would inspire a high-end SUV.
Not that the Lagonda was particularly well received – it was shunned by the automotive industry in general for being, well, too ugly. That pretty much convinced chairman David Richards to pull the plug – then.
But it seems the Gaydon-based manufacturer hasn’t been completely disheartened because Bez has stated that revival plans for the Lagonda were almost complete – citing how popular luxury SUVs are in markets such as Russia, the Middle East and China.
Bez didn’t go into detail, but we have no doubt that the Lagonda will re-surface dramatically restyled. With the current concept based on the X164 GL-Class’ underpinnings it’s very likely that Aston Martin will turn to Daimler as a possible partner in the near future.
