It is sad day for Gallardo lovers as the last example, a Rosso Mars Gallardo LP 570-4 Spyder Performante, has just rolled off Lamborghini’s assembly line in Italy and into the hands of a private collector.
Lamborghini built 14 022 Gallardos over the course of 10 years, making it the company’s most successful model to date. Lamborghini says that the company averaged 250 annual sales before the Gallardo was introduced but now averages around 2 000 sales, with the Gallardo representing nearly half of all Lamborghinis built since the company was founded in 1963.
The Gallardo’s successor will be called the Cabrera and was spotted just this week.
Look out for our January issue of CAR magazine in which we test the Lamborghini Gallardo LP550-2 as part of our annual Performance Shootout.
