Subaru’s next-generation Forester has been exposed via a leaked brochure revealing a sharp makeover and technical specifications.
The images from a Subaru Japan marketing brochure leaked via carscoop.blogspot.com show a more resolved front-end treatment and a cabin similar to that of the recently launched XV. While the Forester has garnered plenty of plaudits here in SA, the current model’s styling has been something of a bone of contention, will the latest iteration address that issue?
The new car is externally larger than its forebear, measuring 4 595 mm long (35 mm longer than before), 1 795 mm tall (+15 mm) and 1 695 mm (+20 mm) wide. The wheelbase also grows by 25 mm to 2 604 mm in a bid to free up additional rear passenger legroom while luggage space expands to 550 dm3.
According the brochure, the new Forester will be offered in Japan with a naturally aspirated 2,0-litre powerplant that can be couple with a choice of six-speed manual or CVT. Developing 109 kW, this model will be joined by a CVT-only 2,0-litre twin-scroll turbocharged unit developing 206 kW.
Other markets are likely to receive uprated versions of the current 2,5-litre engine, as well as the 2,0-litre boxer turbodiesel.
