Official images of the new BMW X6 have been released by the Bavarian manufacturer. The new X6 will hit international markets towards the end of 2014.
As expected the 2015 BMW X6 takes a leaf out of the recently launched third-generation X5, with an evolutionary approach to it’s styling that takes in tauter lines flowing over that distinctive SUV/Coupé body and the new familial face with sharper headlamps flowing into the oversized kidney grille.
The X6’s rear aspect was often viewed as looking rather ungainly, but the adoption of a more lithely styled rear valance and horizontally compressed breaklamp clusters lend the car a more streamlined appearance.
The facia treatment differs little from that of the new X5, featuring clean instrumentation and a gentle trim bow that runs the length of the cabin. Standard features on the vehicles that will be available overseas include bi-xenon headlights, 19-inch light-alloy wheels, automatic tailgate operation two-zone climate control, auto-dimming rear-view mirror and the driving assistant safety package from BMW ConnectedDrive.
The engine line-up consists of the latest-generation V8 developing 330 kW in the BMW X6 xDrive50i, a 190 kW six-cylinder in-line diesel engine for the BMW X6 xDrive30d and another straight-six diesel with three turbochargers and 280 kW in the BMW X6 M50d. An eight-speed Steptronic transmission is the standard ‘box. In 2015, the BMW X6 xDrive35i with 225 kW and the BMW X6 xDrive40d with 230 kW will be added to the model range.
The new X6 is expected to reach local shores early in 2015.
