With the 2012 Lexus GS about to be revealed later this week at the prestigious Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, pictures of the new executive saloon have leaked online courtesy of Chinese spy photographers.
The finished product isn’t nearly as radically styled as the LF-Gh Concept that was unveiled earlier this year, which is to be expected but, then again, a few weeks ago Lexus did release a teaser image that kept up our hopes for a real design revelation.
A few details that made the concept such an attraction have been retained, including the X-motif front bumper design, much of the concept’s profile and boxy rear end with bold taillamps. It seems Lexus designers opted not to have the exhaust tailpipes included in the rear bumper design, but instead integrated them into the diffuser.
It makes sense that this might be an entry-level unit (as indicated by the GS350 badging), so there might be a few details extra on bigger engine and more powerful variants, but it has to be noted the pearlescent paintwork and low-resolution quality of these shots actually hides a few key character lines on the new GS.
Before we get to see the real thing later this week, complete with decent photographs, note in the meantime where the GS has come from with these concept images.
