Lexus South Africa has released a statement stating that it will be recalling certain RX models, sold between March 2003 and March 2006, due to a possible brake fluid leak.
Lexus claims that a seal in the brake master cylinder may form a leak if incorrect brake fluid has been used at some point in the car’s lifetime. This could lead to the premature display of the brake fluid level warning light.
Lexus says that even though there is no immediate safety issue, it will be contacting the customers of affected vehicles in connection with having the necessary components replaced as a precaution – a procedure which takes approximately two hours to complete.
Due to the age of the vehicles, it is expected that many might be in second or third ownership. Owners are requested to contact the Lexus call centre on 0800 22 0000.
