Freddy Loix has been named the Peugeot Sport WRC team’s second nominated driver for manufacturers’ points on the three remaining asphalt events of the 2004 season.

The Belgian, who was sidelined from the team in favour of Harri Rovanpera for gravel events after poor results in Monte Carlo and Sweden, will take part in Rallye Deutschland, the Tour of Corsica and the Rally of Spain.

In each of the three rounds, he will drive a 307 WRC and assist two-time champion Marcus Grönholm in his bid to win the world title. To prepare for these events, Loix will continue to test the 307 WRC and will also enter a non-championship event, driving a 206 WRC, before the championship's first asphalt rally.

“Freddy Loix and Peugeot Sport are pleased with this agreement which will allow the former to demonstrate his driving skills on asphalt and enable Peugeot Sport to profit from valuable additional support,” a spokesman for the team said.
