After the bold and striking Eletre SUV was released a few weeks ago, many have turned their attention in acquiring information from the British manufacturer for their next expected model; the Lotus Type 133 Electric Sedan which is rumoured to take the EV fight to the Porsche Taycan.
Management at the Hethel based brand have reassured the motoring world that the next model currently known by its “Type 133″ designation will not simply be an Eletre on stilts but rather a completely different looking model which has “some continuity and family identity” to the rest of the range. However, like its electrified SUV sibling, the Lotus Type 133 Electric Sedan will also expectedly be assembled at the state-of-the-art facility in China.
While no official information on the styling is yet available since its design is believed to be in the finalising stage, Matt Windle, the managing director of the firm states that the model will start out with the same 435 kW as the Eletre. He further states that “there’s more to come” meaning we can possibly see a boost in performance in the Lotus Type 133 Electric Sedan in the form of a tri-motor derivative that could possibly push out as much as 660 kW.
While it will be less than the power outputs offered by the Tesla Model S Plaid and Lucid AIr Dream Edition Performance, we think that Lotus have Porsche in their sights instead. This could very well be the Hethel based brands answer to the electrified Taycan with top echelon models boasting ludicrous power being able to take the fight directly to the Taycan Turbo and Turbo S.
As the date nears to the Lotus Type 133 Electric Sedan 2023 launch, all of this hearsay will eventually become clear but the roadmap for the brand is certainly one of the more exciting in the automotive industry at the moment.
