The Loxion Motorshow returns to the Maponya Mall for the third time this year, and with the show having achieved considerable success in 2008 and 2009, local dealers have supported the cause of bringing motoring to the people of Soweto with much enthusiasm.
Last year the show took a motorsport twist, as Nana Zulu and Gugu Zulu introduced Karting to the event to add to the attraction.
“Loxion Motorshow has grown from strength to strength and not only have we added great entertainment to the menu, but we have also branched out to other provinces and expanded our operation. However our starting block was Maponya Mall and this has proven to be our flagship show and it’s without doubt that we are upping the game in 2010,” said operations head, Nana Zulu.
There’s a host of activities planned for the event. Heading the bill is the Pirelli Tyre Challenge, in which shoppers can compete in a tyre changing contest to stand a chance of winning great prizes from Pirelli. Loxion Motorshow has also teamed up with Honda Rider Academy to give lessons and help prospective motorcyclists improve their skills.
“In recent years, we have seen more and more black brothers and sister getting into motorbikes and unfortunately we have also lost many friends in the new hobby and it’s only fitting that we try and educate people about motorbikes and increase their riding skills,” said Gugu Zulu, who is also a keen motorcyclist.
With the nation in soccer frenzy as the World Cup is around the corner, the Showbol indoor soccer specialist have come on board and will be running a street soccer tournament in the parking lot of Maponya Mall. Kids will have the opportunity of registering a team and playing 6 a side soccer. Some dealers have also taken the opportunity of sponsoring some of the teams.
For the youngsters, Playstation will be on hand showcasing their latest games and consoles.
Over and above this, the Loxion Motorshow will once again host a number of dealers, from the likes of BMW and Mercedes Benz, as well as Toyota, Nissan, Citroën and Alfa Romeo, to Suzuki, Tata, Kia, Chery and Hyundai. A wide array of sportscars will also be on display.
The Loxion Motorshow starts on the 26th of May and end on Sunday the 30th May.
