Mahindra SA has extended its domestic product lineup by launching a Bolero 4×2 turbodiesel-powered pick-up for R109 900. The addition of the entry-level model brings the Indian manufacturer’s product lineup to five models, including the Bolero 4×4 pickup and double cab and the Scorpio 2,6 GLX 4×2 and 4×4 SUVs.
The single-cab Bolero 4×2 workhorse offers South African consumers an alternative entry-level bakkie to the Tata Telcoline 2,0 TD. The new Bolero is propelled by a 69 kW 2,5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged and intercooled diesel engine that produces maximum torque of 210 N.m. A double-cab version of the 4×2 will be launched in the near future, Mahindra told CARtoday.com.
The Bolero 4×2 is a multi-purpose pickup. Its large loadbox has double-wall construction for increased durability and protection.
Mahindra SA currently has over 20 dealerships across the country with more dealers in the pipeline and the company’s chief executive, Vijay Nakra, says the Indian marque Mahindra has “far outreached its initial expectations” since its launch last year.
“Mahindra is pleased to launch this workhorse in South Africa,” Nakra said. “This product has been successfully tried and tested on various terrains across the globe. We believe the Bolero 4×2 will redefine the entry level bakkie segment. The Bolero is a true working companion for different applications such as farming, mining, or even moving goods for small businessmen.”
To facilitate the storing and distribution of Mahindra parts to any licensed service outlet countrywide within 24 hours, Mahindra & Mahindra SA has successfully tied-up an agreement with logistic experts, Berco Express. In addition, Mahindra owners receive 24 hours off-road assistance available through the AA.
