The family-friendly Mecer motorcycle and quad bike expo kicks off its fifth year later this month, and will showcase a large range of products as well as host a round of the thrilling Boxer Cup series.
The weekend’s crowd-pleaser will undoubtedly be the Boxer Cup Race scheduled for Sunday, May 1 at the Kyalami circuit. The bikes will also be displayed for public viewing.
Aimed at the family, the main attractions include testing the latest motorcycle models around the racetrack, a scooter-training course and track, Freestyle Moto X and trick riding by Brian Cooper.
Some of the exciting quad and motorcycle models on display will include the Triumph Sprint ST 1050 cm3, Triumph Speed Triple 1050 cm3, Kawasaki Z 750 S, Kawasaki ZX 636, Kawasaki Quad KVF 750 Brute Force, Suzuki GSXR 1000, Suzuki DRZ 400 SM, Suzuki King Quad 700, Yamaha Rhino 660 ATV, Yamaha R6 Rossi Replica, Yamaha NCX Scooter 125, Yamaha YBR 125 Commuter / Commercial, BMW K 1200 R, BMW R 1200 RT, the Polaris Sportsman 800 and many more.
A licence is required to test ride a bike, though if you are not in possession of one, you can hitch a ride with one of the experienced instructors.
The show, which runs from April 30 to May 2, has already established a strong following among biking and lifestyle enthusiasts. Tickets for the show cost R30 per person (under-12s enter for free) and the gates are open from nine to six daily.
