Mazda has chosen the upcoming Geneva Motor Show to showcase its new SKYACTIV technologies and future Kodo design language. The Mazda Minagi Concept crossover SUV will stand front and centre to show off this new design direction for the Japanese company.
The new Kodo design language of the Minagi Concept represents the “Soul of Motion” and the company claims that with the Minagi Concept it “symbolises the evolution of the Mazda brand as it begins a new era”.
The SKYACTIV technologies that feature in the Minagi Concept is claimed to “represent the harmony between driving pleasure and outstanding environmental and safety performance”. This vehicle will be the first to feature SKYACTIV technologies across all facets. It has a SKYACTIV engine and a SKYACTIV transmission that is fitted to a SKYACTIV body and chassis.
Mazda believes that its new SKYACTIV petrol and diesel engines will be more fuel efficient than hybrid powertrains. A petrol version of the Mazda2, featuring the company’s new SKYACTIV-G (gasoline) technology, will be available in Japan early next year. It is said to have a fuel consumption figure of just 3,3 litres/100 km.
