As the New York Auto show gets closer, more details are starting to surface of cars that could be unveiled in the Big Apple. This design sketch has surfaced on the Internet of what could be the next generation Mazda MX-5.
Although no technical details have been made available yet, it is safe to assume that this roadster will look drastically different from the current generation MX-5.
It is clear that Mazda has used its current design language when illustrating he MX-5. It features the new family face while the wheels have also been pushed out to the corners.
There are talks of the range being offered with both a 1,5 and a 2,0-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine. Should this be case, expect the new car to be – hopefully – lighter than the current model.
It is also safe to assume that this platform would not only be used by Mazda, but that the company’s corporate partners, Fiat and Chrysler, might use it for a convertible of its choice.
