McCarthy Motor Holdings is to supply Capricorn Society Limited, a nationwide independent automotive parts buying co-operative, with original spares and accessories.
As a result of the deal, motorists will be able to fit original McCarthy-sourced parts and accessories at Capricorn’s independent workshops around the country, some of whom might not have been able to provide such a service in the past.
“Suppliers must meet strict criteria before being endorsed by the Capricorn system,” said Rob Mildenhall, the South African state manager of Capricorn. “McCarthys represents all the aspects we are looking for in a supplier.”
According to Mildenhall, Capricorn members have an instant line of credit with the preferred suppliers, but only one monthly statement for all purchases from all suppliers put on a Capricorn account.
The Capricorn Society was established in South Africa in 2001 and represents 120 workshop owners including engine remanufacturers, transmission specialists, diesel fuel specialists and auto electricians.
The agreement does not impede on the established distribution and ordering chain that exists between McCarthy Motor Holdings and the aforementioned independent workshops.
