New images the McLaren P1 have been released as the firm travels to Bahrain to canvas for potential customers.
The host of track stills showing off the Ferrari F150 and Porsche 918-rivalling hypercar have been shot as part of a global tour that has already taken in North America, which is expected to be the P1’s biggest market. Despite its production run being limited to just 500 units, the allocation of P1s has not yet sold out.
McLaren has poured a great deal of its Formula 1 technology into the P1, especially in terms of carbon-fire construction and aerodynamics.
The powerplant earmarked for this model has yet to be confirmed, but it’s believed that it will utilise hybrid technology and have a power output in the region of 530 kW. From what can be gathered from the image of the digital instrument binnacle, it looks as though this powerplant is capable of revving up to a heady 9 000 r/min.
Although the P1’s interior has been pared down to keep things light, such features as a bespoke audio system and climate control will still find their way into the cabin as a concession to making the P1 as civilised as possible for long distance driving.
McLaren Automotive regional director for the Middle East and Africa, Mark Harrison said: “After a successful launch in Bahrain, we are very excited to be bringing the McLaren P1 to the United Arab Emirates.”
The McLaren P1 will make its official debut at next month’s Geneva Motor Show.
