McLaren’s official South African distributor, the Daytona Group, is set to open a state-of-the-art showroom in Sandton, Johannesburg, ahead of the MP4-12C’s arrival on our shores.
Due to open in September, the facility will provide a premium showroom environment complete with cutting-edge car configuration facilities and the provision of first-class customer services for prospective MP4-12C owners.
The launch of this showroom will coincide with the introduction of customer-care procedures that aim to provide 24/7 support as well as access to a comprehensive range of replacement parts for the MP4-12C. In addition to the logistical framework being introduced, the firm’s Johannesburg-based technicians, workshop managers and body technicians have also undergone an intensive six-day training course at the McLaren Technology Centre in the UK.
McLaren Automotive has also committed to assigning its customers a personal liaison manager (PLM) who will be on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to provide customer care and each dealer in the region will appoint a dedicated McLaren Automotive brand manager who will be responsible for executing McLaren Automotive projects and initiatives in each country.
Duncan Hill, McLaren Automotive’s regional after sales manager for the Middle East and Africa, is responsible for the dealer training programme. “Before the MP4-12C goes on sale, we need to ensure that everything customers and owners experience while visiting a McLaren Automotive showroom or workshop is of the highest quality. Setting up these facilities is just one step; the key is to properly prepare the dealers and their technicians to look after the vehicles. Being at the MTC was very enriching for the technicians, and helped them to gain a deep understanding of McLaren’s DNA,” said Hill.
