[Mercedes News] After an age of conjecture, it finally conspires that Mercedes’s Affalterbach performance arm is readying a model below its SLS supercar in a bid to take on the Porsche 911.
Mercedes chose to steal a march on the hoards of spy photographers that often lurk around their facilities in Germany by disseminating its own batch of shots showing off a camouflaged prototype.
Some of the elements that can be gathered from the pictures include simpler glazing and an absence of SLS-style gullwing doors. The overall shape is also more angular and compact than the nose-heavy SLS.
AMG has apparently created bespoke V8 for its model line-up. The 4,0-litre, twin-turbo unit will initially develop 346 kW when it finds its way into the next-generation C63 AMG. The sub-SLS will get a tuned version of this engine which will reportedly produce 436 kW.
