Mercedes-AMG has been looking for a tie up with a motorcycle manufacturer for a few years now. Before the German company could buy Ducati, Volkswagen jumped in and managed a deal for Audi to buy the Italian manufacturer.
However, according to TopGear, sources suggest that AMG is looking into buying another Italian brand, this time MV Agusta.
MV Agusta has had several owners during the past decades, but fortunately survived this roller coaster ride and still produces some of the most stylish and raw performance bikes. Acquiring a motorcycle manufacturer will also allow the Mercedes-AMG group to lower its CO2 footprint and improve its green credentials.
Having been exposed to both AMG’s and MV Agusta’s products, we at CAR couldn’t think of a better tie up.
