Mercedes-Benz South Africa announced today that it will launch the new generation C-Class Estate onto the local market in October of this year.
“South Africans are known for their active lifestyle and we see this new C-Class Estate, similar to its predecessors, also becoming a popular choice among customers. The order book is now open at Mercedes-Benz dealerships nationally, and customers can configure their estate of choice either at a dealership or electronically, on the Mercedes-Benz website (www.mercedes-benz.co.za),” says Selvin Govender, divisional manager, product and marketing, Mercedes-Benz Cars.
Based on its saloon sibling, the estate boasts and 80 mm increase in wheelbase, up to 2 840 mm when compared with the previous estate model. The new car is also 96 mm longer and 40 mm wider. These increases benefit rear passenger room and carrying capacity. Maximum volume is now claimed to be 1 510 dm3, which is ten more than the previous model. The load compartment volume behind the rear seats has increased by five litres to 490 dm3.
Three derivatives will be available at the time of introduction: the C180 and C200 petrol-fed versions and an oil-burning C250 BlueTEC. All engines feature a auto stop/start function, and in some cases consume up to 20 per cent less fuel than before.
The C180 Estate with its four-cylinder engine offers 115 kW of power with 250 N.m of torque and emits 132 CO2 emissions. Alongside this petrol variant is the C200 Estate has 135 kW of power and 300 N.m of torque. The C250 BlueTEC diesel model has 150 kW of power and 500 N.m of torque, whilst emitting 124 g/km of CO2.
Customers can choose from two styles for the visage of the new Estate, Avantgarde with the sports grille or the Exclusive Line with the Mercedes-Benz star on the bonnet.
Various trim lines available for the new Estate: Standard Exterior and Standard interior, Exclusive exterior with exclusive interior, Avantgarde exterior with Avantgarde interior and the popular AMG Line Exterior with AMG Line interior equipment. Additional to these combinations, the AVANTGARDE Exterior equipment can be combined with the Exclusive Interior and the AMG Line Exterior with the Avantgarde interior equipment.

As with all Mercedes-Benz passenger cars, the C-Class Estate comes standard with a 6-years/100 000 km maintenance plan requiring no customer contribution.
