UPDATE: In the story below we outlined the fact that Mercedes-Benz is readying a Shooting Brake version of its CLA sedan model. Initially we brought you images of a test mule out on the open road. Today we can share these far less clandestine photos of a near production-ready model caught in traffic.
In these pictures you can easily see the sloping estate roofline as well as the tail-lamps, not dissimilar to those of the CLS Shooting Brake. Considering how close this car is to production we expect an unveiling early in the new year.
It seems that the Sindelfingen-based manufacturer is not content with producing a handful of models on its small car, front-wheel drive platform… It is readying another! Spy photographers have spotted the Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake with barely any camouflage while it was being tested on the open road.
This will bring the small Benz family to five models including the A-, CLA, GLA and B-Class models. As with the CLA and A-Class siblings we can expect quite a bit of overlap in terms of engine and transmission options. And if there is a CLA Shooting Brake AMG, much like there is a CLS63 Shooting Brake, then it will boast the same 265 kW, inline four-cylinder turbopetrol with the all-wheel drive layout.
The images above were shot of an actual car, but there are plenty of renderings on the internet, such as the blue car which is probably close to what the final production model will look like.
