Ralf Schumacher’s F1 career may not measure up to that of four-time world champion brother Michael, but the younger sibling has gone to great lengths to ensure that he has a bigger mansion, private jet and yacht than Schumi.
For starters, the 26-year old Williams star, wife Cora and infant son David, live in a 15-room villa near Salzburg, Austria. The “villa” has five more rooms than the estate of the Ferrari world champion in Vufflens, Switzerland.
In addition, Ralf’s private jet costs approximately R22,2 million more than Michael’s R245,7-million private jet. And just when we thought the sibling rivalry could not get more ridiculous, Ralf’s has gone one bigger and better once again, this time with his new yacht.
According to reports in German tabloid Bild, Ralf has ordered a luxury Elegance 105 yacht worth approximately R76 million.
However, even before he takes possession of his new toy, the yacht is up for sale. As incredible as it may seem, the 32m-long boat, featuring six rooms and one and a half decks, is apparently too small for the German driver. He has since ordered an Elegance 140. This yacht is 41m long, has ten rooms, one suite, a captain’s room, two huge jacuzzis, five fridges, flat-screen TVs in every room and many more luxury items. It costs about R117 million – and it is capable of crossing the Atlantic!
It is unlikely that Michael could find a bigger boat to upstage Ralf. However, CARtoday.com suggests the four-time world champion would humour Ralf’s expensive taste as long as Schumi takes the top of the podium on Grand Prix weekends.
