Ten examples of Mini’s most luxurious model, the Mini Inspired by Goodwood, will be offered on the local market at a price of R511 592 apiece.
In case you’re wondering just how a Mini can command a premium of more than half-a-million rand, this particular model is a collaboration between the folks at Mini and the Rolls-Royce Motor Cars design team.
The upshot of this unusual coming together is a Mini with an interior featuring such Rolls-Royce preserves as Walnut Burr trim panels, Cornsilk-coloured leather trim for the dashboard, central console, air vents, carpets, heated lounge leather seats, roof lining, doors and interior cladding, cashmere roof linings, sun visors and rear storage tray, as well as deep-pile lambswool foot mats.
Externally, the Inspired by Goodwood is distinguished by 17-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels and a pair of model-specific paint schemes: Rolls-Royce Diamond Black and Reef Blue metallic finishes.
While the innards may have hints of Rolls-Royce about them, the powertrain remains untouched from that of the standard Cooper S – a 1,6-litre turbopetrol unit developing 135 kW.
