We’ve seen the latter-day Mini sprout a myriad of spinoffs, from a racy two-seater coupé to a crossover and a compact station wagon. Now the folks at Mini have decided to see just how well its Paceman would wear a compact pickup wrapper: enter the Mini Paceman Adventure concept.
The Mini Paceman Adventure concept was born from a meeting of minds between the old hands at BMW’s Dingolfing plant’s design department and the latest crop of budding designers coming through the ranks.
They undertook a challenging project to expand on the Mini’s already diverse model portfolio; the upshot of which was a rugged two-seater pickup based on the underpinnings of the Mini Cooper S Paceman S ALL4.
The Mini Paceman Adventure concept is powered by the S Paceman’s 1,6-litre turbopetrol engine, which develops 135 kW and 260 N.m of torque. This unit is coupled with a six-speed manual gearbox that sends drive to all corners via the company’s ALL4 all-wheel drive system.
In addition to a ride height-raising modified suspension setup, the Mini Paceman Adventure concept also sports a lined load bed of an unspecified volume and bristles with such rugged addenda as a roof rack with a quartet of driving lamps and room for a roof-mounted spare wheel, black plastic lower body cladding and an exhaust snorkel to aid deeper wading.
The folks at BMW/Mini have stated that the Mini Paceman Adventure is a one-off creation and there are no plans for series production.
