If you were among many who found yourself breathless at the sight of the high-energy stunts in The Italian Job, you too could soon have the chance to fulfil all your Mini fantasies.
Inspired by the 1969 original, the most recent version of The Italian Job was shot in Venice and Los Angeles. Starring Charlize Theron and Mark Wahlberg, the film was peppered with daring stunts and exhilarating driving scenes that left many with the urge to get a Mini Cooper S of their own to toss about.
Soon fans of the film will have an opportunity to relive the experience as the first Mini rollercoaster, the “Italian Job Stunt Track”, will open at selected theme parks in the US and Canada this year.
The track will recreate some high-speed plunges and limb-tingling loops from the film, while Hollywood special effects and audio recordings will recreate several of the film’s chase scenes.
Visitors will careen across the track in a Mini 30 per cent smaller than the actual car. They will drive down stairs and avoid collisions and explosions as the cars race about, before splashing through an aqueduct and coming to a stop.
