Fiat SA has announced that it will be bolstering the local Abarth range with the addition of the Limited Edition Abarth Punto Scorpione.
Limited to a run of just 99 units, 10 of which have been earmarked for our market, the Limited Edition Abarth Punto Scorpione ushers in both cosmetic and performance-enhancing extras.
On the performance front, this model is powered by a 1,4-litre MultiAir petrol engine featuring a Garrett turbocharger. This unit, coupled with a close-ratio six-speed gearbox sendig drive to the front wheels, develops 132 kW and 270 N.m. According to Fiat, this will see the Scorpione crack the 0-100 km/h run in 7,5 seconds on the way to a top speed in excess of 216 km/h.
Among the aesthetic exterior touches distinguishing this model from its run-a-day peers are matte-finish bonnet and roof panels contrasting with Scorpione Black paintwork, an Esseesse-sourced sports exhaust kit and 18-inch black alloy wheels, behind which lie ventilated brake discs clamped by oversized four-piston callipers finished in yellow.
This model sits on lowered springs augmented by Koni shock absorbers with FSD (Frequency Selective Damping) fore and aft.
The cabin features sports seats trimmed in Alcantara/technical fabric with red and yellow contrast stitching, aluminum kick plate, stainless steel pedal boots with Abarth emblems, leather-bound steering wheel and Jaeger driving instruments.
The Abarth Punto Scorpione commands a R365 000 asking price and is solely available through Arnold Chatz cars in Johannesburg.
