A few Ford friends have joined the Aston Martin Vanquish in the new James Bond movie.
Halle Berry will drive a Thunderbird convertible, and the villain has a Jaguar XKR.
James Bond has moved away from BMW, and will be driving the 343 kW Vanquish in the next instalment of the series, , which will be released at the end of this year.
Oscar winner Halle Berry, the newest Bond girl, will swan around in a coral-coloured T-bird.
Rick Yune, who portrays the villain, drives the 300 kW Jaguar and other Premier Automotive Group products, such as a Volvo S80 and new Range Rover, in the movie.
The XKR baddie-mobile will take part in a thrilling chase scene that was shot on a frozen glacial lagoon at Jokulsarlon, in the remote wastelands of south-east Iceland. The car pictured here gives an indication of what the facelifted version, which is due later in the year, will look like.
In addition, Ford has said it plans to release a special edition 007 Thunderbird to go on sale in the United States next year.
“There’s no single product placement in the industry more iconic than James Bond’s car,” says Jan Valentic, Ford’s vice president of global marketing.
“No other films better capture the aggressive performance of the chase scene and sex appeal of the spy game better than the James Bond films.”
Valentic said Ford sees James Bond films as the perfect pop-culture image for cars like the Thunderbird.
“It’s a perfect expression of what T-bird is all about,” Valentic said. “There’s sex appeal and a sense of intrigue. It really does build the brand.”
