The three-litre V6-engined Lexus RX300, featuring permanent four-wheel drive and electronic traction- and vehicle stability control systems, was launched in South Africa earlier this year.
Standard specification on the R462 700 car includes “Optitron” instrumentation, RDS radio and audio system, multi-disc CD changer linked to satellite steering wheel controls and eight speakers, electrically-adjustable front seats, a multi-function trip information display, electric- windows and side mirrors and air-conditioning system.
However, the RX300 XE, with a price tag of R494 220, has additional automatic rear door function with power assistance for opening and closing, tilt-and-slide sunroof, a vehicle entry illumination system, access power system (which lifts the steering column when the ignition key is removed and returns it to its original position when the key is inserted again), rain sensing windscreen wipers and memory for driver’s seat settings.
A three-year/100 000km warranty and five-year/90 000km service plan are included in the purchase price of both models.
