After soaring fuel prices were halted by a welcome 17c a litre drop this month, more good news is on the way as fuel prices are expected to drop again in August.

Motorists can expect a 28c a litre reduction.

Various factors, including a strong rand, have sparked the possible drop in the fuel price following a record high in April of R4,39 a litre.

Tony Twine, a senior economist at Econometrix, said this week that the price of fuel was likely to decline by about 28c a litre in August.

He said that although this was good news for motorists, the fall would have been even bigger had there not been an increase in the international crude oil price last week.
