As if the Caparo T1 wasn’t outrageous enough, Caparo Vehicle Technologies, has just released the even more beastly Race Extreme version.

With Formula One inspired design and tarmac rippling performance, the “standard” Caparo T1 is of a very specific pedigree of road legal vehicles. Aimed at the higher end of track day goers, the Race Extreme gets a few added features and more powerful engine.
The “climate pack” option is the introduction of a new sliding plexiglass top – due to customers’ concerns about face distortion, and air-conditioning. Essentially, the canopy is made of a toughened acrylic – similar to that used in armoured windshields and helicopters.
The all-aluminium V8 engine has been upgraded to produce 462 kW at 10 500 r/min and, mated with a six-speed sequential gearbox, allows for a zero to 100 km/h sprint of just 2,8 seconds, zero to 160 km/h in 5,8 seconds and goes on to a top speed of 335 km/h.
In addition to the fully adjustable ECU and traction control system, the suspension is also adjustable and the 355 mm carbon-ceramic discs are retarded by six-piston calipers up front and four-piston units in the rear.
Most of these are standard fixtures on the T1 Race Extreme, but you’ll have to pay in the region of R300 000 for your plexiglass canopy and R50 000 more for the air-con option.
