Etienne van der Linde (Castrol BMW 330i) won the day’s opening Class A race
from team mate Anthony Taylor while Steve Wyndham snatched third place in his Ford Credit Falcon XR8 ahead of Castol BMW’s Shaun van der Linde.
The second race saw van der Linde cause the upset when he pulled a lead ahead of his brother Etienne, Anthony Taylor and Kaye-Eddie’s BMW 330i Reghardt Roets.
These Class A results mean that Castrol BMW’s Etienne van der Linde and Taylor will only have the two races at AA Kyalami later this month to secure a class title.
Brian Martin took his Havoline Toyota RunX Rsi to both Class B victories, followed by Dawie Brough (Prominent Paints Honda Ballade V-TEC) and Bert Grogor (German Workshop Toyota Corolla Rsi) in the first race. In the second race, Brough was forced to retire due to mechanical problems and the Toyota’s were the only finishers in the class.
With wins in both Class C races, veteran Lawrence Boshoff (Orbit Coach Works Honda ballade 180i) increased his lead in the year’s overall production car championship.
Doug Reekie (Ray Ban Honda Ballade 180i) finished second on both occasions,
followed by Molefi Lethebe (OKI Honda Ballade 180i) in the opening race and Craig Nicholson in the second.
And even though Lebethe rolled his Honda shortly after the start of the second race, he still had some consolation by winning the CAR Magazine Rookie of the day award.
John Kruger won the first Class D race in his Ford Fiesta Rsi ahead of Fanie de Bruin (M&R Ford Ikon 1,6i) and Dave Compton (Bumpertech Toyota Tazz 1600).
De Bruin scored the day’s second victory, followed by Miguel Pasqualli (Ford Racing Ikon 1,6i) and Kruger.
