Ford’s popular Mustang model has been in production for half a century and through all that time a right-hand drive model has not rolled off the production line. But all that is about to change when global production of the new model begins.
Of course we don’t need to underline the fact that this means the new Pony will be available in local Ford showrooms as well.
Ford engineers recently finished construction of the very first right-hand-drive, sixth-generation Mustang (pictured here). The prototype Mustang will be used to conduct various development tests in preparation for the car’s entry into the global market in the coming months. We will not be surprised if this car is spotted by eagle-eyed fans in the Silverton area, near Pretoria, as this is Ford’s local base of operations.
The sixth-generation Mustang goes on sale in the United States this spring, and will make its way to South Africa in 2015. Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa has announced that it will open pre-orders for the all-new Mustang in January 2015.
