Accomplished designer Marek Reichman has been appointed the new director of design at Aston Martin.
Reichman, who has designed for MG Rover and BMW, joins Aston Martin from Ford’s North American operation where he held the position of director of design for product, interior design and process.
As the senior designer at the BMW Designworks studio in the US, Reichman was responsible for the new Land Rover design language that would culminate with the design of the new Range Rover in 2003. He returned to the UK in 1998, where he established a London-based design studio capable of producing full-sized models.
The chairman and chief executive of Aston Martin, Ulrich Bez, said: “The company has gone through some serious changes during the past four years which are the basis for Aston Martin’s design direction. (Reichman) will be part of a team that will add even more strength to Aston Martin’s design strategy.”
J Mays, Ford Motor Company group vice president of Design and chief creative officer, added: “Marek has proven himself in a variety of design jobs throughout the company during the past six years. We’re pleased that the newest chapter of his career affords him the opportunity to show his unique perspective on British design as applied to our most aspirational brand.”
