It seems there’s no end in sight to the incredible proliferation of new Mercedes-Benz models. As long as there are 26 letters in the alphabet it seems the Stuttgart-based company will continue to use every one of them to name its new models!
A new entry-level range, based on the front-wheel drive MFA platform that will underpin the next-generation A- and B-Class, is likely to include a coupé (although this could still feature a four-door configuration a la CLS), a convertible, an all-wheel drive model to compete against the likes of the BMW X1 and Audi Q3, as well as a shooting brake version.
Expect the first of these new models to see the light as early as 2013, while rumour has it that engine options will include a 150 kW 1,8-litre four-cylinder petrol unit and a 125 kW 2,2-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel option.
Little is known about which letters of the alphabet will be assigned to these new models, but it is speculated that the X1 rival will carry a BLK badge.
