Hyundai’s Bakkie has been replaced with an all-new 1,3-tonner to provide small business operators with an LCV ready to tackle any task.

The previous bakkie was introduced seven years ago. Now, the 1,3 ton H100 Bakkie has received a whole new image.

Designed to redefine the customer’s expectations of a light truck, the Bakkie has received a number of key changes. It has a wide windscreen and large headlights in an elegant sweeping design, and both front and rear fog lights.

Larger doors offer easier access to the cab. The H100 Bakkie now has extra seat- and shoulder-space with a forward folding centre seat, which reveals a driver workspace, sunglasses and cup holders.

The H100 Bakkie is offered with a choice of short and long wheelbases with high and low platforms. The Bakkie also has a 100 X 50 mm steel section chassis, with a double wishbone and torsion bar front suspension and rear leaf springs.

Side impact bars, single moulding body panels and a variable cross-section cowl cross member, are significant safety features.

The 2,6-litre H100 produces 58 kW at 4 000 r/min and 170 N.m of torque from as low as 2 200 r/min. This power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox. Braking is achieved by 15-inch ventilated disc brakes while wider section tyres and a front mounted anti-roll bar add extra precision when steering.

With a lower deck height and an unobstructed load area, the New H100 makes fast and efficient work of loading and unloading cargo weights of up to 1 300 kg. The latching side walls and a tailgate that can be bolted provides extra security and cargo protection. A great advantage is the H100’s great 2,785 m long and 1,63 metre wide load area.

Standard features on the H100 Bakkie include: power and tilt steering, a wide-view outside mirror, illuminated ignition slot, lockable fuel inlet, bottle storage and door map pocket and a side step.

The Hyundai H100 Bakkie costs R 129 900 with a standard three-year/60 000km service plan and a three-year/100 000km manufacturer’s warranty.
