BMW plans to celebrate 30 years of what is perhaps the ultimate Q-car with a limited edition M5 that will not only boast exterior and interior enhancements, but a healthy dose of extra power and torque as well.
Bimmerpost, who got hold of “leaked” information about the new model, believes that BMW only plans to make 300 units of the Anniversary M5 available worldwide.
On the outside, the 30th Anniversary M5 will be coated in BMW Individual Frozen Dark Silver Metallic, with model-specific 20-inch alloys, dark chrome trim and commemorative badging. Inside, the Merino leather and Alcantara upholstery combination will be contrasted by dark aluminium trim and appropriate badging on the seats and facia.
Most importantly, the twin-turbocharged V8 lurking underneath this special M5’s bonnet has been massaged to produce 441 kW and 700 N.m of torque (29 kW and 20 N.m more than the standard car’s 412 kW and 680 N.m). These models will be fitted with BMW’s M-DCT dual clutch transmission only.
Components featured as standard on the Competition Package M5 will also find their way to the Anniversary model, such as revised suspension and M dynamic mode.
Many believe that 30th Anniversary M5 will debut at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed next month (26-29 June), but it just might make an appearance a week sooner at the Nürburgring’s M Festival.
