Let’s face it, the Audi A1 light hatchback has nothing in common with the Ingolstadt-based firm’s R18 Le Mans racer. But, in preparation for this year’s Le Mans 24 Hour – and clearly a bid to sell a few more A1s – Audi will avail 100 units of this limited edition A1 to the South African market.
The R18 Le Mans Edition is said to “include key styling elements from the R18 Le Mans race car”. These details include the number 378 on the exterior of the car, representing the number of laps the race car completed to win the 2012 24-hour endurance race.
Another highlight includes the winning drivers’ signatures in the top left corner of the rear window.
Audi has not skimped on bespoke trim elements in the least. These include 17-inch aluminium wheels, as well as a new front apron, side sills, rear diffuser and roof spoiler. The interior is adorned with air vents, centre console, rear-view mirror, floor mats and door handles that are covered with the R18 Le Mans design.
This special edition is available on all A1 Hatchback and A1 Sportback SE models for an additional R10 800.
The standard pricing is as follows:

- Audi A1 1,6 TDI SE manual: R262 500
