It was really inevitable. Shortly after Peugeot showed its 108 and Toyota its Aygo teaser, Citroën has released the first details of its new C1.
As is the case with the other two siblings, the C1 will be available in a three-door, five-door and an open-top version, the latter called the Airscape.
Three different drivetrain combinations will be available. The first is an e-VTi 68 Airdream engine connected to a five-speed gearbox. Next up is the VTi 68 engine connected to an ETG automatic transmission. The top of the range unit will be the VTi 82 1,2-litre, three-cylinder engine delivering 61 kW/118 N.m.
According to Citroën the 1,2-litre engine uses only 4,3 litres per 100 km and achieves a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 11 seconds.
The Citroën C1 will be shown for the first time at next month’s Geneva Motor Show. Expect the local introduction by the end of the year.
