Geely has updated its cute LC Cross with a new engine and added features. The upgraded vehicle will be on show at next week’s Johannesburg International Motor Show.

This model, dubbed the LC Cross GX2, is powered by a new 1,5-litre engine that has 20 per cent more power and 25 per cent more torque than the 1,3 in the rest of the LC Cross range. The power output is 75 kW at 5 800 r/min while torque stands at 136 N.m that is available between 2 800 and 3 400 r/min. Geely claims a fuel consumption figure of 7,3 litres/100 km and CO2 emissions of 169 g/km.

Standard features include ABS brakes with EBD, airbags, electric windows and mirrors, remote central locking, audio system, power steering, air-conditioning and a radio with a front loading CD player, four speakers and two additional tweeters, as well as a USB socket.

Like the other vehicles in the LC Cross range, this model has an increased ride height of 160 mm over the regular LC hatch. It also features a full-size spare wheel mounted on the rear hatch and 14-inch mag wheels.

The LC Cross GX2 is priced at R109 990 and includes a three-year/100 000 warranty and AA roadside assistance.
