In a bid to offer a wider range of vehicles for the consumer, Hyundai has added a 1,7-litre, turbodiesel engine to its ix35 line up. Before the launch of this vehicle, the only turbodiesel choice the company offered locally was that of a 2,0-litre engine.
This new derivative develops 85 kW (at 4 000 r/min) and 260 N.m (between 1 250 and 2 750 r/min). The torque is send to the front wheels via a manual, six-speed gearbox. The dash to 100 km/h takes 12,4 seconds and top speed is said to be 173 km/h. Hyundai claims an average fuel consumption of 6,5-litres per 100 km.
This specific derivative is build at Hyundai’s factory in Nosovice, in the Czech Republic. Incidentally, four other ix35 derivatives in our SA range also come from this factory.
Safety equipment includes dual front and side airbags, curtain airbags, ABS with EBD and Brake Assist.
