While the motoring fraternity eagerly awaits the international debut of Hyundai’s new i20 at the Paris Motor Show, the Korean manufacturer’s also revealed that there’ll be a coupe version that’ll go into production in 2015.
According to Hyundai, the i20 Coupe will feature “fun driving, a distinctive character and sporty refinement.”
As the released sketch suggests, the i20 Coupe will boast a muscular stance, by way of bodypanels that won’t be shared with the regular 5-door hatch. Obviously, the production version is unlikely to be as wild-looking as the concept this drawing will spawn – but it should still be one of the more stylish models in the B-segment when it’s launched.
As for Hyundai’s “fun driving” claim, it remains to be seen what the Korean firm plans to drop under the bonnet, but the turbopetrol 1,6-litre four-cylinder developing 150 kW from the Veloster Turbo should be a good start.
The i20 Coupe will go up against other eye-catching three-doors such as Peugeot’s 208 and Ford’s Fiesta.
