McLaren Special Operations (MSO), the department that caters to the individual needs of McLaren customers and responsible for the one-off X-1 model from 2012, has revealed a few cosmetic and functional upgrades for the recently-launched 650S.
Up front, the intakes are surrounded by satin-finish trim, while a carbon-fibre splitter sits under the front bumper to help keep the nose planted. Further improving downforce are a new carbon-fibre rear diffuser and wing. The lightweight material has also been applied to the enlarged side intakes and engine cover.
MSO also coated this particular 650S in a new colour called Agrigan Black. The two-tone hue is a metallic black embedded with a red flake that ‘flips’ the colour in the right ambient light.
Inside, the MSO 650 also benefitted from the liberal application of carbon-fibre. The cabin now boasts dual carbon-fibre seats with a fixed back – just like the range-topping P1 hypercar. Together, the new seats help shave 15 kg off the car’s total mass. The satin finish trim found in the cabin is also coated carbon-fibre.
The parts will be available on both the 650S coupe and 650S Spider and some can even be retro fitted to the MP4-12c.
